Yui Niimura is a first year at Drury University hailing all the way from Japan. It has been hard for leaving her family, but she has enjoyed her time at Drury immensely and is excited for what the next few years bring her.
One of the challenges she has faced, like many international students, is being in an English speaking country as a non-English speaker. However, she has utilized many of the resources we have at Drury including going to the writing center for guidance on her papers. She also talks with her professors if she has any questions on any assignments or about anything she found confusing in the class lectures.
She is currently a Computer Science major and has loved being a part of the program even in its difficulties. She does not know quite yet what she wants to do after her time here at Drury comes to an end, but she a lot of time to figure it out as she continues her studies.
She has gotten a lot of help from other international student since she has been here and made a few friends that have made her feel welcome.
She will be going home for winter break to enjoy some time with her family and friends in Japan. She is also going home for the delicious authentic Japanese food that you cannot get anywhere else.
Yui is a dedicated and hard-working student, and we lucky to have her join the Drury family.
