INGFIELD, Mo., May 13, 2025 – A group of Drury University students recently presented a strategic marketing plan to the Board of Directors of a local non-profit organization committed to building low-income housing in the Springfield area.

The students made their presentation to Generations Village, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization established in 2018, prior to final exams in late April.
The MKTG 491 Research Class from the Breech School of Business initially collaborated closely with the board to develop a strategic plan focused on enhancing Generations Village’s brand visibility through both traditional and digital marketing channels. The students conducted research, analyzed community needs, and proposed actionable strategies to support GV’s long-term growth. The final presentation highlights key branding recommendations, a digital engagement plan, and potential partnership opportunities.
The presentation was so well received that the Generations Village board offered paid internships to the students in order to implement the plan.
“This strategic planning initiative is a powerful example of what can happen when education and community impact intersect,” Associate Dean of the Breech School of Business Administration Dr. Gehan Dhameeth said. “By working alongside Generations Village, our students gain real-world experience in both traditional and digital marketing strategy development, while helping to elevate an organization that is making a meaningful difference. It is truly a win-win—our students grow professionally, and Generations Village benefits from fresh ideas and strategic insights to expand its reach and impact.”
The strategic marketing plan will help guide the Generations Village Board and staff during critical phases of outreach, marketing, public relations, and other areas.
The students involved in the presentation included Alea Burks (Marketing/Management, Strategic Communication), Danielle Buker (Management/Marketing, Economics, and Spanish), Layne Clubb (Finance, Management/Marketing, Personal Branding), Micah Keen (Accounting, Business, Economics), Dax Sailsbury (Finance/Marketing and Entrepreneurship/Personal Branding), and Bailey Shultz (Strategic Communication).
“Our model is so unique and the impact Generations Village will have on people’s lives has the potential to be incredible,” said Generations Village Board Vice President Tom Furr. “Our partnership with Drury University, particularly the student team under Dr. Dhameeth’s leadership, has resulted in the presentation of a thoughtful, realistic marketing plan that will soon be implemented. We’re grateful for this group’s dedication to our cause and very excited to put their recommendations in motion.”
